The txistu is the most
popular traditional instrument and has been heard by Basques for
generation upon generation. This vertical nose flute with three holes
has played an important role in our culture by participating in work
activities, fiestas, dances, religious celebrations, etc.
The Chinoko
Txistulariak is a txistu group offered to children ages 9 & up, who are
interested in learning to play this very old basque instrument.
This beginner group meets on a weekly basis throughout the year to
learn and practice new music. They also perform during club events
such as our annual basque picnic, a club luncheon and the Christmas
party.
